Dr. Kathleen Bowman is very excited to be joining the team at Kahu!

Originally from Toronto, she has wanted to become a veterinarian ever since her father first read her James Herriot’s All Creatures Great and Small. After completing her IB diploma at The York School, Kathleen earned her undergraduate degree at Dalhousie University in Halifax before heading to Ireland to attend veterinary school at University College Dublin. Following graduation in 2022, she worked in a small animal practice in the Dublin mountains, caring for cats, dogs, and the occasional wood pigeon. 

 

Throughout high school and university, Kathleen volunteered at several veterinary practices across Ontario and the British Isles, experiences that helped shape her approach to patient care and client communication. She is especially passionate about fear-free medicine and animal welfare, and she values building strong relationships with both pets and their people.

 

Kathleen shares her home with Piper, a very friendly senior lab/shepherd mix. Outside of veterinary medicine, she enjoys classical music, horseback riding, cycling, cardio circuit classes, reading, and Taylor Swift. She is also a professional pianist who performs at venues around the city, primarily retirement homes. While she loves kickboxing and chess, she admits her enthusiasm exceeds her actual talent in both.
